The QuantiSlav project aims to develop sustainable infrastructure and quantitative methods for analyzing Church Slavonic texts, primarily from the 16th century. Current practices still typically involve manual analysis of manuscript texts based on a small amount of self-labeled manuscript data in order to determine their time and place of origin, which lacks scaling potential. The QuantiSlav project shall enable young scientists to work on large amounts of textual data with a non-Latin alphabet, complex morphology, and unnormalized orthography. The project thereby aims to deliver insights based on state-of-the-art, large-scale analyses and methods for the research communities of (Slavonic) Historical Linguistics, Digital Humanities, and Language Technology.
